Hi everyone, I am new here & I am hoping to talk to people who understand what it’s like to have a chronic illness for over 10 years (or a long period of time). My depression and anxiety have gotten worse recently because of my physical health issues and I have been sleeping a lot more than I would like. In order to survive at the moment I have been disassociating from myself so I often feel numb and like I am a ghost in my own life. Hoping to talk to people who understand and any suggestions are welcomed. PS: I am on fluoxetine rn but I am getting evaluated soon to see if that needs to change etc.

@jubie I’ve seen MANY docs about my health issues. I’m seeing an integrative doc now & she’s helping a lot with that. Now I wanna get a better handle on my mental health & want to talk to ppl who relate & can suggest things as well

Yes I have done the be in bed alone, my suggestion is talk yourself into getting up even if it's just standing and sitting back down. I like to walk around the house.🤗 doom brain is no fun.

Ya I’ve been on that medication for a while but I’m not sure if it’s right for me so that’s why I am getting an assessment done soon 😊

@vee_3 it probably also depends on your physical health problems - have you seen a doctor about that? Lethargy and fatigue can be caused by a lot of things and it's easy to rule out things like vitamin deficiencies.

I understand! I've had mental health problems for the past 15+ years. It's totally understandable that your physical health is affecting your mental health, too - I'm having that experience lately too. I'm happy to talk about it more if you like!

I tried fluxoetine for my bulimia and depression, but it didn't really seem to help me. I talked to someone who works for UCSF eating disorder clinic and the most effective thing is to combine antidepressants with therapy. I would love to talk to you more about your journey.
