i’ve been struggling with skin-picking for a while now. i only recently discovered the term dermatillomania. i also think that i’ve been not really seeking out treatment because i suspected that it wouldn’t work, which i’m believing more now. i really do want to stop, but it’s hard, especially with all the other things i have going on, whether it’s my other disorders (adhd, asd, anxiety, and depression are all the diagnosed ones) or just stress/symptoms in my life right now (school, sleep issues, so much more). i want to stop. i do. but i’m worried i am not willing to put in the effort to do it. especially because it seems to me like there’s no real effective method, whether it’s medication or therapy… i hope i’m wrong. god, i really do. because i don’t want to keep doing this. i’m scarring myself long and short-term, i’m wasting so much time, i’m making my self-esteem surrounding my appearance go down, etc. and there’s no rational reason to do it! purely logically, i should be able to stop. i hate this, guys. i would love to have someone to talk to about it.

Hey there, welcome! You’ve made the first step which is acknowledging the problem. Now the next step is to seek help. A CBT can work well for it, sometimes combined with meds
