Let me preface this by saying I’ve always had a wonky memory. No “official” memory loss diagnosis, but I’ve had testing done that says some aspects of my memory are way above average and other aspects are way below. It’s weird. Anyway… I’ve the past—year? Few months?—my memory has gotten noticeably worse. Sometimes I wonder if it’s part of my seizure disorder or a side effect of my meds, or perhaps a combination of both. But particularly my short term memory. This past weekend has been the worst. I can’t believe it’s only Thursday. Looking back at my calendar, I had church on Sunday and dance class on Monday. Holy crap. That was 3-4 days ago. I can’t remember what the sermon or the class was about. I do remember them happening, but they feel like they happened at LEAST two weeks ago if not a month. It’s like my time perception is out of wack. Things that happened recently seem like they happened ages ago. And when someone reminds me of something small/insignificant, I rarely remember it (although that part isn’t particularly new, just the time perception part). I don’t know, man. It’s freaking me out TBH. I’m only 33. I’m not an old man. But I feel like one sometimes, especially with how out of shape I am. I also don’t think it helps that I’ve been working from home over the past several months. Maybe that’s part of it. They say they’re going to bring us back into the office soon, which is both good and bad. But maybe the pros will outweigh the cons and I’ll get my normal memory and time perception back. Has anyone else been through this? Do seizures cause this, or does Keppra or Trileptal? Or is it not medical at all and I’m just overreacting?
