I’m going to my appointment for my back pain. They’re going to do spinal x-ray and I’m worried my pain is going to be dismissed and told “there’s nothing wrong/X-ray looks fine” or given more physical therapy. I have stopped walking with my cane and done months of physical therapy, walking and stretching due to color guard and I still have pain in every other previous places that I’ve complained before. My pain only seems to be cared about if it’s debilitating and I can’t even walk with my cane anymore cause of doctors orders and I’m worried what my team will think of me :( I hate being a disabled teen.

Hi! I’m also a teenager but I haven’t been diagnosed yet. I’ve been dealing with health issues for almost three years now and all of my tests are coming back fine. I don’t have hip dysplasia but my hip does collapse and is internally rotated everyone I take a step, which causes collapsing of my knee, it’s similar to knock knees but one sided. I do feel like often if the pain isn’t bad enough no one listens. So I do understand how you feel and I hope you can keep advocating for yourself. I’m new to this app and happy to connect with new people! :)

I’m 18, also have hip displaysia. I had a PAO surgery at 16 for it which helped, but I’ve got a bunch of other problems so still have a lot of pain and difficulty walking

Hi there! I’m also a disabled teen and I’m diagnosed with hip dysplasia. I have frequent attacks of pain at my hip that make it hard for me to walk or bear any weight on my hip. I just want to let you know that you’re not alone. I know how it feels when your concerns aren’t heard by your doctor and I hope you can continue advocating for your health. I also know how it feels being a disabled teenager… It’s hard for me to talk about this subject with my friends and it feels like I have no one to talk about my pains/struggles with hip dysplasia. Managing our pain along with school work and other expectations is a tough task too! I really hope both of us will improve in health and achieve great things in the future!
