Okay… stupid question.. can people die from not pooping? Last year I was in serious pain… so much so that I couldn’t move. My dad thought my appendix had exploded or something. I had an ambulance take me to the hospital. They gave me something for the pain. While I was there they had to give me an IV? Bc I was so dehydrated! I was so loopy at the time, and started flirting with the nurse. They took some sort of scan of my body… afterwards I was told to wait for my results… when my nurse came back she looked me dead serious in the eyes and said “Your full of crap!” Suddenly I burst into laughter (bc I was still loopy) it was funny at the time until… I looked at my mothers face. She was concerned and so was the nurse. I have always had issues using the bathroom… I just didn’t think it was that bad. Apparently I hadn’t gone to the bathroom for so long… now my muscles in that area don’t work?

Yes, it can take a long time as the stool builds up but I would say it’d be more likely that you’d have a complication like a ruptured bowel or sepsis or something that caused your death.

Short answer: yes but you have to reeeeally ignore what your body tells you, you did the right thing by going to the hospital.

I have the same condition I don't use the restroom for sometimes a whole week and a half it affects everything I'm so tired and sick all the time and a very similar situation happened to me we thought I had appendicitis but I just was constipated

@Kelsey707 I suffer from this too!! My worst was a month and a half, I used the restroom maybe three times in that entire timespan. I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t drink, I couldn’t go to school and I couldn’t go to work. Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever been clear because every time I get an X-ray I’m still full to the brim with excrement.

It is possible, but more like indirect causes (issues with absorption in your intestines, having a ruptured bowel, etc). I think what they are talking about it intestinal paralysis kind of thing? Hope you are feeling better!
