Hi all, every time I take a shower I suffer from extreme nausea, dizziness, chills, shaking, and urinating more frequently. It feels like I have the flu. I am not pregnant and I take colder showers in case it was the heat doing this but nothing has helped. I usually eat and stay hydrated before showering sometimes I sit down in there as well. Does anyone know what this could be or have the same issues? I will be speaking with my dr soon but wanted to put it out here as well. I am currently diagnosed with long Covid since all of my symptoms have developed after my first time having Covid in 2020 but that’s it so far.

@Zoey_Val I’m 22 and have had these issues since I was 11, (getting severe at 18). So you’re definitely not alone! It’s hard to get over the hurdle of using mobility devices/aids, but my philosophy is anything that can make my life even a tiny bit easier I will go for!

I had covid in 2020 and since have developed POTS, i use a shower chair and keeping windows and doors open when you shower help!

Long Covid has a lot of similar symptoms to dysautonomia. You might be having autonomic issues because of the shower. I have POTS (a form of dysautonomia) and showers are horrible, I get dizzy, hot and it’s takes forever to recover. I use a shower seat to conserve energy and it keeps me from passing out while in there. I recommend making recovery time for after showers and possibly investing in a shower chair if it continues. Getting a chair is the best decision I made, it helps sooo much.

@Donkeyfarts hi thank you for this response! My cardiologist told me that is a form of autonomic issues for sure. I will totally look into getting a shower chair i feel embarrassed because I am so young to be having these issues I’m in my 20s but i will definitely do everything I can to help this!!

It sounds like BPPV to me. Have you looked this up before? It is totally benign, but very uncomfortable as you know. Take a look at that and see if it sounds like you.
