Detaching from the social stigma is the most important thing with healing in this diagnosis. Acceptance is next.. if you are struggling it gets better with time 💕

Dude...I've never slept around. And the doctor told me judgementally that it was sexually transmitted and would not believe me. Well, it's not always sexually transmitted! My sister and mom have it too and never slept with anyone but their husbands just like me. And my sister and I had horrible cold sores growing up and didn't know it was probably herpes. No one ever raped us or anything...pure virgin when we were married to our husbands. There is no way in hell that the men we married have had any hint of unfaithfulness. It's just something that we probably shared through family germs. The stigma is wrong.

@Skywalker :/ what a shitty doctor; it’s an STI, but doesn’t mean it can’t be passed by the simplest things like sharing a drink. HSV is way more common than people even think it is.

I've been there!! It's scary and hard telling someone you want to be with your condition. I told my partner before we started hooking up, and then reminded him about it when I had the first flare up while together (few months ago). It was hard not kissing but we both knew it was protecting him. We looked up info and stats online to understand together the role this plays in my life and his. Letting go of the stigma *inside* and being honest about how you feel helps a lot.💕💕

I feel like shit!!!! My longterm bf broke up with me just now and I found out I had it when I was with him! Now I’m like I’m gonna have to tell future partners and they aren’t going to want to be with me 😭

@Clarebearclare Beleave it or not is more like crabs were in the 70s. People have it they just don't talk about it. And they are very curious about it and want to know what the chances are that the will get it.
