Please do not romanticize having mental illnesses or joke about either the symptoms or outcomes of having said mental illnesses. This platform has been good about this, but whenever you hear anyone try to romanticize any kind of symptoms, please tell them to stop. I know that sometimes joking about the darkest of things helps some cope, as it does for me, but this only is safe to a point. Sometimes one person’s symptoms for even the same mental illness can be DRASTICALLY different and therefore you should never joke about symptoms because what could be manageable for one can be extremely overbearing and way too much for another. Don’t degrade someone saying that they don’t seem that bad or that something doesn’t seem as bad as it is when speaking of how they feel. Just be courteous and only settle for courtesy back.

This ^^ The only time it's okay to belittle someone is when you are talking about yourself, and only when you are joking. You have no idea what people are going through, and telling them that a symptom or something they are struggling with "isn't that big a deal" because it isn't to you can hurt them more than most people realize
