How can I get doctors to take me seriously? Whenever I bring up the fact that I have chronic Lyme they just change the subject and blow me off and it hurts so bad because it affects my life so much. I’m tired of being invalidated and it makes me feel so hopeless.

Hi Torti! I totally get what you're saying. I tried to explain the brain fog from the lyme to three different doctors before I found out it was Lyme and they kept telling me to go to a psychiatrist. I don't talk about it anymore with my other doctors, and I actually switched to new ones after all that. For Lyme, my cousin who has had it for years sent me to the doctor she goes to. I hope things get better for you.
Hi Torti! Honestly I rarely Bring it up at regular doctors appointments. However I do live in PA where it’s super common so any kind of reaction is rare. I choose specialists that I chose myself not waiting to be referred by some idiot doctor to another idiot doctor. If you don’t like a doctor don’t go there. If they don’t take you seriously the first time they won’t the second tjne
