Does anyone else often struggle with disassociation with adhd? I recently just went through a traumatic event, and my disassociation has gotten unmanageable. It was an issue before, but the trauma has boosted it to a new level. I also read that adderall can increase this symptom, which i take, but i also saw it can help? thank ušŸ’Œ

adderall has very mixed results with dissociation. It actually has a possibility to help treat dissociation, but can also make it far worse so its a gamble. I have struggled with derealization disorder for more than 5 yrs now, which derealization is a type of dissociation, and i have adhd. Sometimes i like gaslight myself and think maybe I dont even have anything else just DPDR (derealization) but I know I genuinely have a lot of symptoms other ppl with just derealization dont have loll

I dissociate enough to where I'm not sure if I'm real half the time

Yes, 1 way I have learned to somewhat control it is to simply move my foot when I'm sitting down.

I spent most of my like disassociating and didnā€™t even realize it, I have adhd so idk if it makes it worse, but probably doesnā€™t help. As far as adderall I canā€™t speak on that as I stopped taking it. Sometimes itā€™s a nice little break, but coming back to reality is sometimes very jarring. Iā€™ll take disassociating over depersonalization/derealization any day though.

@Ksmi iā€™ve done the same! i feel like adhd, especially inattentive, makes it so much easier to disassociate and harder to break. iā€™m trying to get away from it because now itā€™s making stuff worse. i agree tho, iā€™ll definitely take this

Yes I do struggle with dissociation. Unfortunately I have not found anything that helps to manage that.
