Wanted to let ppl know that I found out being on birth control can trigger lupus and make it worse especially if you have a chance of getting it. Ppl with lupus should not be on birth control. I found out bc I stopped taking it after 4 years of being on bc some trouble with my pharmacy and I noticed I was feeling A LOT better. I haven’t felt this well in a long time and I know it’s bc of birth control and I was on a low hormone one. Pls check and see if this is something affecting you!! I’ll have to see other options but I don’t think I will be going back on bc of how much of a difference it made in my health.
Yes, estrogen can trigger lupus. I have an iud and do not have nearly the amount of issues as I did when I was on combined pills (estrogen + progesterone)
yeah, irregular bleeding/ prolonged bleeding is a side effect of the iud. Progesterone is like a hedge trimmer and constantly keeps the lining of the uterus (that is the menstrual blood build up my estrogen) trim. Some people it takes 6+ months to be fully effective. So sorry it didn’t work for you !
