I took trazodone for the first time the other night, and it literally knocked me out until 6pm THE NEXT DAY. When I woke up, I felt like an utter ZOMBIE, as if I had a terrible hangover, and I just got over the feeling this evening. Uhhh, is this normal?? I’m scared to take it again because I cannot be incapacitated like this 🥶

When I was prescribed trazodone, I hated the way it made me feel. It knocked me out cold and I felt like I could never wake up. They only put me on it because they didn’t approve of my sleep schedule, which, now that I look back at it, was messed up.

Personally I take a small does of trazodone but tue first time I took it I was taking 100mg and I felt the same way when I would take it. I mentioned it to my doctor and got the does lowered seeing as it also gave me headaches. Try telling your doctor if this continues to happen.

I have been on a dose up to 200 mg, and am currently on only 25mg. The main reason I had my dose lowered was exactly what you’re describing. What I find helps me is taking it right before I sleep, and allowing myself extra time to wake up. If it becomes a serious problem for a long time, try talking to your psychiatrist about dosage or alternatives.

I take 100mg and I sleep for around eight hours sometimes. But usually I still wake up once in the middle of the night and it ends up being more like seven hours. I’ve never heard of it knocking someone out for as long as it did you so I’d say that’s not normal. Although the zombie part I definitely had a bit of that at first.
