Stress/anxiety and depression is a major factor or trigger for my migraines . Iv been on and tried almost every preventative medication (oral pill, monthly injections etc) . The only medication that works to abort the migraine is imitrix. My migraines have been so often lately and now I’m getting rebound headaches and for the past year or so I have been getting Botox injections for migraine prevention because nothing else has worked or has stopped working. My question is does anyone have any alternative to medication? Chiropractor? Aromatherapy, reflexology, acupuncture?? I have tried some but have not stuck to it very long mainly because of price and that insurance does not cover it.

My suggestion is avoid sugar and caffeine! Not completely, but do NOT over do those! They cause dizziness and headaches… i’d also invest in calming the source which is stress. Get a massage or do something peaceful like yoga. Worth the try 🙏

Chiropractors were helpful for me. I have arthritis and fibro in addition to migraines so for me having those readjustments were helpful bc of the amount of tension I carry in my body. Definitely decreased the amount of migraines I had per month. It worked better than all the meds I’d been on prior as they did absolutely nothing for me. I’ve also used aromatherapy which helps a little so I take what I can get. Lavender, peppermint, and Frank incense are the top oils I’ll use. Reflexology is another thing that helps a bit as far as pain relief. My mom will do my feet sometimes and it really makes an impact sometimes. Effectiveness for all of these really depends on the trigger and how quickly I’m able to utilize them. I do wanna try accupuncture at some point but like you said this shit is EXPENSIVE and generally not covered🥶 There’s acupuncture mats on amazon tho and I’ve found them to be beneficial and I think it was only $15 or $20
A few years ago I started taking a muscle relaxer every night before bed and that has really gotten my frequency down!! I’ve gotten migraines since I was a little kid and even though I do still get them, I think I was getting a lot of “extra” ones because of tension in my neck/shoulders/back. Plus they’re cheap!! I take 5-10mg of flexeril

Ugh I’m such a cheese monster too! I love Italian food too much!! So I know dairy can’t be helping. As for my period I don’t really know when I’m getting it anymore because I have mirena IUD ever since my second child ( who’s about to be 10) so I don’t get periods anymore really. I know it sounds weird but someone could just be annoying me and I’ll be getting a migraine already lol. It’s like everything a trigger unless I’m in a dark silent room alone . I want to try acupuncture tho. I just wish insurance covered it
It’s so frustrating when insurance is such a pain ! I totally get it ! I do still see a chiropractor who also practices acupuncture. It has helped a lot . I have noticed every time I reintroduce dairy into my diet , my headaches are insane . I also have noticed that they are worse close to and during my period . Sugar makes it worse and not sleeping . There has been some research link inhaler migraines to gut flora imbalance.
