So I have an unofficial diagnosis for fibromyalgia. I see someone who is a mental health nurse practitioner so he’s not necessarily able to give me the actual diagnosis. I see my PCP in a week and was wondering how I should approach this? I have to get a new referral to physical therapy as well and wanted to try to get a referral to a rheumatologist. Any advice? Side note: My PCP is great and listens to my concerns, thoughts, and suggestions, I’m just unsure how to approach it and get the results I need.

Be honest. Fibromyalgia has some peculiar symptoms that will help them diagnose you properly if you do have it. They might test a few other things that are similar, then diagnose you with Fibro if the other things all turn up negative. Even digestive problems and frequent urination etc can be fibro

You’re not alone! I instead went to an internist, who understood my body way better than a GP. The Rheumatologist is also great more for that arthritic, lupus, etc. I’ve found a lot of help through my internist though.

Yes see a rheumatologist, I have fibromyalgia myself along with lots of other things but I'm on Lyrica and it has help some and just recently up the dosage but I think seeing a rheumatologist is the best thing to do because honestly it may not be that. They will run all kinds of tests and those kinds of doctors are great. I first went to a rheumatologist because I found out I had lupus and they found other things. Sorry for the rambling, I just don't have anyone to talk to that understands my illnesses.
