I went to visit my long distance boyfriend a couple weeks ago, and while I was there he’d tease me about being SO sweaty. Like I’d be sweaty at such random times even when I didn’t feel hot, and I just couldn’t understand why. Well, yesterday I had an interview. I walked in and the hostess was kind of.. not being very personable and ignoring me basically after telling her I was there for the interview. After telling her why I was there, she immediately turned to the person she was talking to and continued talking about some sort of problem they were having before, without acknowledging that I’d even said anything. After another minute or so of them talking, she looked up again, but instead of saying anything to me she asked the person behind me what she could help them with. At that point, I just decided to go stand to the side to get out of the way and wait for a manager or whoever would be conducting the interview. After a moment of waiting there I realized.. I was sweating like a damn waterfall. I sweat profusely when I get anxious. So walking around places with a lot of people or interacting with people who don’t match energies brings my anxiety up to a point where I feel sweaty and irritable and shaky. Now I know ig. Is there a way to help with being more confident in public places? Not letting myself get so nervous over things that ultimately aren’t a big deal? I feel like the interaction I had with the hostess ruined my interview and made me seem more flighty than I am most of the time. Lmk if anyone had any tricks to keeping your head with a lot if people around

@mimikuku oh wow thank you I may have to look into that-
My partner has GAD and hyperhidrosis as well. He uses Carpe brand antiperspirant on his hands, feet, and underarms, for support. I think they just came up with a facial lotion or wipes for your face as well. It has helped in social situations and at work. Hope you find this helpful!
One way to look at it that may help your anxious sweats from compounding your anxiety, is that the right people you want in your life, the people you want to work for - won’t care. On the other hand, preparation can help. I sweat at the drop of a hat too. So knowing this I make sure I liberally apply deodorant before a big meeting like an interview, try to buy clothes that breath and wick sweat, and do my level best to stay cold before getting in to whatever situation I’m there for. Also, some people are sweaty, like us. If it’s a problem for someone, I’m glad they removed themselves from my life before I had to remove them. A friend of mine would always force herself to talk to strangers because she had social anxiety. Not sure that was best for her, at all times though because she’d get anxious that she had that rule for herself and would never give herself an out. Sending you my best wishes!
