im writing this and balling my eyes out. i’m getting to the point where I can’t remember simple words. I was trying to say sore throat earlier.. I couldn’t even get the words out. my brain feels like it’s in overdrive for all the stupid stuff I have to remember. i’m still in school, i’m in anatomy and physiology rn.. I can’t remember anything. I keep failing tests. I have drug induced memory loss from a sewerslide attempt. ik it’s my fault.. and honestly that makes it worse. I’m glad it’s been 2 years since I was in the phase where I didn’t remember graduating high school (a very significant event for me) but damn I just have to pass but I can’t.

If you don't have time to take an official break, then try and find as much ways as possible to ease the pressure so your brain can recover— otherwise, you won't be able to function at all in my experience. Depending on where you live you can try to contact the college directly to appeal for a Leave of Absence. Amnesia is a disability as much as any, and even if it's temporary it causes a lot of impairment academically. Try and contact a neurologist if you haven't already, there are remedies to help with memory loss and brain fog even if it doesn't cure completely. It'll take time to be your "old self" again, and you may not be the exact same, but this stranger on the internet believes in you.

Have you been able to talk to your professors about this memory loss? It's better to take a break or ease yourself until you experience less amnesia, than to pressure yourself to remember it so hard that your mental health nosedives again. I've been in this position and it's horrible, the pressure ends up making it worse.
