The last time I said it was on a dating app with someone I thought was rlly cool and we were having a great conversation then they just ghosted me once I mentioned I have autism, I'm not a very high functioning autistic but it's still there for sure especially in social situations. Not sure why but I guess ppl are just weird about autistic ppl.

“You don’t look autistic” How am I supposed to look? 🤔🤔

I’ve had positive and negative reactions. For example, my new job is very positive and wants to support my needs. My last job though, when I told my coworkers, said oh you’re really high functioning like it was a compliment.

Most people don't believe me. In fact my mom straight up insisted my diagnosis was incorrect

I always gotten “you don’t look autistic” or “no you are not”. But they are always saying things like “you are so childish”, “this shouldn’t be so hard for you”, “you shouldn’t act that way”, etc.

oh gosh this has been weird for me. i mostly will just mention it casually with people after some time less of a “coming out” so to speak, but when i do mention it it’s like i can see people going inside their brains to make extra sure that they look super neutral and chill and casual about it. after that i experience people being a lot nicer to me…? which is nice i guess but also kind of makes me uncomfortable because a.) are you infantilizing? b.) i was still autistic before i told you i was so why didn’t that version of me get the same kindness and respect and leniency? but at the same time it’s not like i hate when people are extra nice to me? i have such complicated feelings towards it.
