What physical conditions should I be looking out for that co-occur with autism? And how do I go about seeking help from medical professionals? I feel that my conditions are not being looked at as a whole, but I know there is more going on than just my mental conditions. And I know that there are things I can be doing to be proactive and help lessen some negative side effects from my meds. I don’t know if it’s possible for any one doctor to take care of this, but it’s so difficult for me to organize and carry messages between my doctors as well. And I’m just in poor health all of the time, in some way or another. I feel like my doctors only see me as a hypochondriac because so many standard tests came back normal; or even the tests that were flagged were still considered “fine”. I struggle to find legitimate ways to prove certain conditions are worth looking into.

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and most likely autism, I knew about the EDS first and realized the autism a few months later. EDS has joint pain, and alot of other symptoms dealing with different organs (gastrointestinal : irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea/constipation, a mix of a lot of issues. Heart : postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, arterial dissection (rare ish). And so much more) I would go research it or I would talk to a doctor who may know about it (many don’t), and be sure that they aren’t gaslighting you. It may be a long process and there are so many obstacles with it but I know you can do it!

I feel ya, I've had mystery pain and lab results for about 5 years now, still no answer. I don't remember what show it is but there's a meme from it where a guy is at a board with string and pictures all over the place, that's me with different possibilities of what's wrong with my health. I do know that ADHD and autism are very common together, there's also a connective tissue disease called ehlers-danlos syndrome (check sp) that's common in autistics. There's different like developmental disorders that can happen but assuming you're at least an older teen the only reason to look at those is to explain if you had or have reading or writing problems or at most if you have problems with your motor skills. I'm sure there's more comorbidities

@pianolover314 bruh i feel this. The closest ive gotten to answers is my cardiologist concluding that i probably just have some musculoskeletal fuckery after finding out i have a mitral valve prolapse murmur from getting checked out for a mysterious chest pain thats been reoccuring since childhood (probably a tendon or ligament in my rib cage or something). I feel the red string meme thing, thats how i feel looking into all my conditions and seeing all the ways they could link back to each other (especially as im going into the med feild, every new thing i learn about almost makes it worse [or better] as i learn how everything works better) Im honestly just looking to make peace with it at this point as obsessing over causes wont help me unless some new complications come up. plus im to embarrassed ill sound like a conspiracy theorist if i tell my doctor about any of it.
