Hello! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m Angela (she/her). I’m 36 and live in Minneapolis, Minnesnowta. I left my job last June and am in the process of getting on disability. I used to be really active - camping, coaching downhill skiing for Special Olympics, hot yoga, etc - but now am looking to find more chill hobbies. I’m into house plants (orchids and Hoyas in particular), cooking/baking, gardening, thrifting, and my personal funky fashion sense. I also love sending letters and dorky holiday cards! 😋🙃 My partner and I have three cats - Mitzvah (13), Julius, and Ru. The last two are siblings rescued from a field we got as kittens about 2.5 years ago. They kept us entertained during quarantine. I went to school first for Theology & Religious Studies with a Spanish minor, and then the second time (because that got me employed making lattes) to be an ASL interpreter. My last job was providing employment support to individuals who are Deaf Plus. I loved it, but it was stressful and exhausting and not doing my body any favors. Once I get on disability and finish all my PT-type things, I’m hoping to volunteer in the Deaf section at a local nursing home once a week or so. That’s me! I’m an open book, so HMU with anything! 🤗

Disability process is absolutely ABSURD. It’s a complete waste of time, energy, and the government’s financial resources. If anyone ever gets to the point where they need to do it, please feel free to message me. Also know you’ll need to live with someone who can support you for like 2+ years till you get your prorated (is that the word I want? Like back pay, I mean) money.

Hi! I’m Sarah and I live in Oklahoma. How is the disability application going? I’m still able to work but limited to things that allow me to sit most of the day. I’m trying to get into a medical coding program since, like you I got a BA in liberal arts (history and anthropology) and I’m not able to do retail anymore. Besides being physically unable to stand all that time I just can’t do it bc if I do I’ll definitely get arrested for homicide. I’m a cat person; if you watch The Simpsons one day I’m going to become Crazy Cat Lady. Which actually sounds good since she wears a bathrobe and slippers all day, everywhere. I won’t throw cats but I will train them to attack on command and if anyone asks they’re ALL my emotional support animals and that’s just what they do when I get anxious. I’ve worked with developmentally disabled adults but in OK they have a program called CASA that Im thinking of doing. Basically id be the person who represents children.
