Anyone else know any way to keep your dog exercised without draining yourself?

We use enrichment toys! Things like the Kong wobbler or a snuffle mat. You put treats or kibble into them and the dog has to work to get the food. It really works their brain and tires them out.

I had a puppy that would go in the backyard and run circles when excited. Not the best technique but my disabled grandpa exercises his service dog by letting it walk alongside the golf cart.

For my dog I throw his ball all over the house or take him for short walks. When I feel up to it, I use his tug of war toy. On nice days our fenced dog park is great.

I like using my local fenced in and/or doggy parks so they can run around outside while I stay sitting on the benches. Doggy treadmills and automatic ball throwers are also very promising. I havent had much issue with this lately though my current dog is old and disabled and even though he has a surprising amount of energy I usually I can wear him out by telling him nonsense phrases that make him excited and letting him bounce around the room. I definitely would recommend adopting older dogs for anyone who is looking into getting a dog and has this concern.

I like to do machines at the gym, it’s not as exhausting as cardio or weight lifting in my opinion! And it’s easier to adjust. I also found aqua exercise classes help!

@Belugabear Realizing now I was on too many pain meds and thought you were asking how to exercise without draining yourself, oops!
