I feel so lost, been in DBT a little over a couple months and started really struggling the last few weeks when I had a really horrible week and all of the skills stopped working for me. The therapist leading it basically told me it doesn’t seem like I’m convinced it will work for me and it doesn’t unless you’re 100% convinced and committed. I explained I was until the bottom fell out and all the work and skills just stopped working. She is stumped and saying this is the first time she has experienced this in her career. That it won’t work unless I’m confident in the process, and that if I’m not I need to find something else for me. She doesn’t know what that is but she somehow expects me to know. Which feels strange, I’m not a professional in the field so I am not sure what that is, because other people recommended DBT so how am I supposed to know what that other thing is? Really frustrated, upset, and sad

I think your therapist was just giving bad advice, tbh. Dbt works. Sometimes it feels like it's not working because of a rough patch, and that's okay! Keep pushing and trying! It gets better and easier with time. Keep track of your feelings using the dbt cards and keep trying to meditate and label your emotions the best you can. you can do this!

@StinkingCorpseLily I don’t have cards, it’s a massive binder but maybe I need to invest in the flash cards to carry with me

@L0viator I’m sorry your having such a hard time so I had to look up DBT - so I struggle with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) in the sense that if I don’t have some form of it I don’t function 🙃🙃🙃I recently “graduated” from therapy and an app I’d like to recommend that really helps ground me is: Bloom So bc I struggle with CB using this app has actually helped me look at the way I think about and perceive things, write down my thoughts and kind of track my moods/emotions/mood swings and it teaches you a lot of psychology tips to help ….. I almost want to say change or re-direct your thought process I’ve been using it for a lil over a year and it’s really helped since stopping therapy
