Essential Hypertension

I read that most essential hypertension is caused by having too high levels of circulating insulin which makes you retain sodium and hence raise blood pressure. Stress, eating too much, lack of exercise can all cause high levels of insulin. We all have a personal fat threshold so if you are above your threshold you need to lose weight. Make sure you walk every day, especially after eating. Cut out all processed foods. Work on reducing stress levels by meditation and removing yourself from a stressful job/relationship.

It may be you can't, only your doctor can advise, as it depends on the cause. However, staying away from salt (especially processed foods) and alcohol are ways to bring it down. Exercise helps, but take it very slowly at first.

Take your medication as prescribed. If you have been diagnosed you are most likely beyond any natural remedies.

Work on your kidney health... avoid sodium and foods containing potassium and phosphorus, and eat non-animal proteins or poultry.
