I guess this is a vent or cry for help or something but i feel myself spiraling. My bipolar and other psych disorders have been managed for years on medication, however recently my insurance changed and my prescriptions aren’t covered anymore. What started as just insomnia and bad ADHD has quickly turned into crying spells, not sleeping for days, chronic anxiety/chest pain, and more. I am a honor student in university, and just this week I’ve “impulsively” joined two more honor societies (which require lots of commitment, and $$$) and found myself procrastinating on assignments. Im panicking and feel myself slipping - I tried to set up an emergency psych appointment but no openings as of right now… I feel like this is the beginning of the end - even though in reality I know I am just having a manic episode and haven’t in a long time. Nothing seems coherent or clear and I can’t relax- I just need to vent I guess but yeah.. i feel stuck.

Oh also, as far as cheap also meds, clonidine has been working pretty well for me. It’s a blood pressure med so I think it is covered by most insurance. I do know that good rx covers it pretty well too. Basically it lowers your blood pressure for a few hours so you get sleepy and pass out. It also doesn’t alter your sleep chemistry like other sleep meds. And it is not habit forming. Might be worth asking about.
@Tofu14 I mean pass out in the colloquial sense btw not like fainting.
I just graduated and am taking a gap year before grad school. So if you ever want some one to talk to that is kind of in a similar pace in life lmk. Anyways, you got this and will get through it. First off, it would be worth checking how much your prescriptions would be with good Rx. They usually have good discounts of most meds. Not so much antipsychotics but most other classes. Then your meds might be affordable. Also when drugs aren’t covered you can appeal that based on medical need. So I’d talk to Your insurance about that. An energy psych appointment sounds like a really good idea. If you see a psychiatrist already I’d check in with them if you haven’t already. They should make time for you or be able to adjust your meds by touching base with you on the phone or via email. I’d also see what emergency counseling services your university has. I know it isn’t always as helpful as meds but it might help to have someone to talk to. They may also have a psychiatrist on staff. If all of that really doesn’t work you could go to the ER (not for inpatient) and get your meds adjusted. Secondly, about the honor societies quit them. They may get angry, but who cares? Your health is so much more important. You could say something along the lines of “I appreciate the opportunity to join your honor society. Unfortunately, and energy has come up and I need to submit by resignation affective immediately.” No one can actually force you to go or participate in any event associated with these societies. I just wanted to also say that I can tell you are resilient so trying your best to get through this and get the support you need. This will be okay and you will get through this. Sending you good thoughts. Take care.
