Is there anyone who was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis who doesn’t have the HLA-B27 marker in bloodwork or substantial soft tissue damage in X-rays or MRI’s? I have the other symptoms and things associated with ankylosing spondylitis, and my paternal grandfather and uncle both have it. I’m trying to puzzle things out, though, and figure out the best course of action.

Hi! I’ve been diagnosed with AS but I tested negative for HLA-B27. I’m not sure if I have any substantial tissue damage - my damage was bone damage in my SI joints and was visible on an x ray
I don’t believe I showed any soft tissue damage, and I need to check my bloodwork to see about the marker… but thanks to a very diligent rheumatologist, we caught early, even though many people thought l “just” had normal back pain.
@aldrwytch I just checked my lab records. and I tested negative for HLA-B27 as well.
