I’m an actor and I’m currently in a musical with a lot of difficult choreography and movement. What can I do so that I don’t get burned out, since I won’t have 10 minutes to sit down and calm down between scenes?

DripDrop ORS! Super hydrating drink packets filled with electrolytes. They helped me sweat during the summer heat waves and I am normally unable to sweat which makes you more intolerant to activity. You can drink multiple through the show and stay hydrated and keep your blood more stable. And if you are able, pumping your legs lightly while standing can help get more circulation so being mindful of your movement can help keep you up longer. Good luck!

All of the above. Continue to participate with a mobility aid if you think it will help. My wheelchair is the only way I am able to participate in dance and theater. They are legally not allowed to kick you out or anything for using a mobility aid.

This might sound a little funny but clenching your glutes (your butt muscles) can also help with the dizzy feeling and help regulate your heart rate if you have long periods without being able to sit. Astronauts and pilots use the same technique to withstand the force of flying effecting their blood flow without passing out

So I was a costume designer before all my medical stuff hit 😂 ask your designer if it’s possible to work in compression tights/leggings into your costume. Understand they may say it’s not and if it is you will probably need to provide them if it’s a non union production. I also second the pedialyte! Just keep it in a water tight container so you don’t spill on your costume 😥

It isnt much but electrolyte dry mix packets or electrolyte drinks (like pedialyte or generic works well too) can help, its actually been recommended to me by doctors to drink 8 OZs the first 10 minutes your awake while your laying down
