I’m just now 18 so I can do certain things on my own like appointments but I have to have my mother drive because I cannot so that has lead to the same routine over the years— she drives me, we both go in, and she speaks to whoever IM supposed to be speaking with. She has told me she isn’t doing it on purpose and even when she doesn’t speak everyone will find a reason to bluntly cut me off & talk to her like I’m not there but the fact that when they cut me off she responds happily….. she’s very very all or nothing so me telling her not to come in with me would mean she’d get offended and passive aggressively do that and much more…. It’s so difficult because when I just don’t say a word everyone mocks me & trys to prompt something out of me only to observe like I was a freak and then move on to ignoring me completely. I’ve changed doctors countless countless of times to the point where I know it’s not just them it’s clearly her or me making it into this situation I just don’t understand what to do….it makes me feel like I’m up to be used for silent show n tell…. I understand there’s not much advice to be given so perhaps I just wanted to be heard—thank you for listening

You have the right to have your own appointments. When you call to make you appointment say you want them to only let you into the appointment. They can just tell her that it’s standard practice to only have you in there. Would probably be easier coming from them instead of you.

You need to realize that you may need to get an UBER or Lyft app and make sure that you have your meds or at least a list of meds and conditions. That way YOU can go alone. Let go of the old arrangement and become independent of her a bit more. If she gets passive aggressive that’s her fault not yours. Be an adult about the situation and realize that we all have our weaknesses. Remember to speak to your physician and don’t let the physician dismiss you.
