We’ve been thinking about telling our therapist we’re a system for some time now, as we initially started seeing him because he specializes in DID and such. We’re pretty sure he knows at this point; we’ve been dropping pretty obvious clues, but our gatekeeper fears for the consequences and stops us from directly talking about it in therapy. What are you guy’s experience with getting DXd whether on paper or not doesn’t matter, just the firm acknowledgement from your doctor that you do, in fact, have DID/OSDD?

The worst that could happen is that he tries to make you all integrate cuz that's what our therapists were always trying to do and we'd prefer to keep our system as a system we don't want to change just because somebody else wants us to we want to be loved for who we are

After we were in the hospital we had to get a new therapist and psychiatrist and this new Dr was the one who diagnosed us with DID. When we were in the hospital we were diagnosed with PTSD, so it took some time to get the DX. But it is so validating to hear him say it is DID and not something else. We've had our old host integrate so that was hard to tell the therapist but he was ok with it hehe

Same here
A lot of us are terrified of integration. We understand it for other systems healing, but to us, it would be akin to death.
Oh well, thankfully he works with people with DID and OSDD and he is well aware of my dissociation and cptsd, he even talks in ways that very much seems to say he sees us as multiple. It’s just very nerve wracking to have to tell him we’ve actually known about this for 2 years and are way more educated on the subject than we act.
integration is a valid form of recovery and healing, but its definitely not for everyone. that said, though, i dont think that people should be afraid of it or see it as harmful, as its quite the opposite
But the fact that your therapist actually knows about did I would tell them
We told our therapist that we were dissociating and she said oh well let's put you in the psych ward then since you're so upset about dissociating we never said we were upset about dissociation we were just trying to tell her that we are a system and that we are having issues with our system in keeping the kiddos from fronting whenever they want
ive told my old psychiatrist, nothing really happened. told my new psych, she said she'll look into it. i think because of how stigmatized this disorder is even in the medical field that psychs dont really wanna disgnose it or talk about it. it kinda sucks, i wish you guys luck with it
