Hi friends! I was wondering is anyone has lupus or RA without a positive ANA test. After my cardiologist appointment today there is some talk about these things because of some pulmonary hypertension which can be symptoms. My doctor said you can have these without positive blood work (convenient) and was wondering if anyone has experienced this? I was told if this was the case we should be able to reverse my new issue with treatment of these diseases but I was wondering if anyone else has a similar experience! Thanks and I hope everyone is having a great day! ❤️

I was diagnosed with lupus 2 or 3 yrs ago. I’ve been tested for RA couple times and it comes back negative. I am almost 100% sure I have RA too, but since my blood work for that is normal they won’t diagnose me. This might be silly, but I’ve done those online RA questionnaires to see if you might have it and it always says it’s a very high probability based on my answers.

@Erinnewbold I 100% understand that. I’m here if you wanna chat! I’m currently going through the process of figuring out if I have lupus again. I say again because they suspected it in January 2020 but then just said my positive ANA is because of eczema and allergies so I dropped it, but now I’ve got more symptoms. And it’s exhausting not having an explanation

@2L0UD4ME It really is! We are going on a year and a half. I have a POTs diagnosis but was always thinking there was something more going on. Now that seems like a pretty solid conclusion

Not me personally, but there are some people dx’ed with lupus without positive ANA (although one study reported 93% are positive) lupus is also dx’ed based on a lot of other criteria (11 I think?) so it definitely is a possibility that lupus could be causing your symptoms!
