I started taking adderall for my ADHD back in 2019. I went off of it after the world descended into chaos with Covid. I recently got back on it, I’m taking 15mg tablets. I was apprehensive about getting back on adderall. While it makes me focus and I have a lighter mood, it also makes me sweat through my shirt, jittery, I grind my teeth and bite my cheek to the point of bleeding, lost weight from no appetite and have a lot of trouble sleeping. I just went back on it about a week ago, and I just haven’t been feeling normal. Stomach problems and headaches on top of all the symptoms above. I talked to my Dr. about trying a non stimulant like straterra, but she said straterra wasn’t an option for me because it makes symptoms of anxiety and depression much worse, both of which I have. I’m at a loss. Adderall really helps with my ADHD issues but comes with a boatload of other symptoms. Has anyone had these experiences on adderall? Have you tried anything else that worked? Part of the reason I went off it is because of the way it made me feel, but my Dr. made a compelling argument for me to get back on it and it had been a couple years so I figured I’d try again, but it’s simply not working.

I will add to my previous comment - overall it looks like the side effects are outweighing the pros for you, so I definitely think it would be better to lower the dosage. If you need to be on it do the minimum dose that gives you the least amount of side effects.

I’m currently on Adhansia and for me the negative side effects aren’t too terrible and also easily manageable. My dr said it’s super similar to adderall but with less of those nasty effect. I would definitely talk to your doc about switching things up!

I'm currently on Ritalin but due to my other mental health issues I could not deal with the side effects, and though I take it every day and it helps me focus, I usually only take 5 mg and 10 on some days. I just can't deal with the jitters, sweating, and anxiety that it can cause, so I would rather be less productive than shaking. I do also take another medication which is meant to help with concentration, but it is a mood stabilizer and generally deals with symptoms of bipolar disorder, not ADHD, lol. But overall that has been much more helpful in getting my life together than Ritalin, though it does give me a boost of energy and helps me get work done.

Hey! I would suggest lowering your dosage or trying Vyvanse! I was on adderall for a long time in the past and you’re right- the side effects are harsh. I just started on Vyvanse about two months ago and love it!!!! It helps with my ADHD symptoms but doesn’t diminish my appetite too much, doesn’t make me as jittery as adderall, doesn’t make me as frustrated or cranky. I’m currently taking 40mg
