I have a habit of maintaining a bad sleep schedule. I basically stay up late and wake up late as well, and it’s been having a negative affect on me. Sometimes I even lay around the house doing barely anything, or can barely think of anything to do to make my day productive other than study for classes. Any advice?

@Cece7 Should also mention that my antidepressant helps me to wake up in the morning. I used to be very grumpy in the morning and tired all day but now I have more energy than I did before.

I find that if I stop working and just do relaxing things for an hour or two before I go to sleep it helps a lot. When I end up in a state where I work on things late at night, I end up getting horrible sleep and my heart rate goes crazy. Also being in a darker room not too many lights on in the house helps. I have family members who use melatonin and it works very well for them. Try to make your bedroom a place only used for sleeping and no work at all in there if it is possible. I know that also can help your brain associate being in there with rest.

✋I have some advice for this, yes! So when you get bored and want to lay around, do a load of laundry. It’ll keep your brain engaged and that will get something good done for you. If not that, then I go outside and go for a walk. Sunlight is very important for us and our energy! I struggle with depression, and I’m on medication now to curb it. The best thing I can say is medication will help you to be more motivated and feel like wanting to do things. Depressive disorder will keep you from doing the things you love and cognitive therapy is hard to apply sometimes. Medication is sometimes necessary; it was for me, so do what’s best for you!
