Anybody have any tips on controlling cravings? I’m on my way home from work and one of my parents has opioids openly available and it’s tempting me. I know it’s bad and it’s been about a month or two since I last used but it’s hard. It’s hard to stay motivated to stay sober
Dude. Not going to sugar-coat it - it's simply not easy. And I'm not sure it ever will be. It'll get easier to deal with as time goes on, but those cravings are something that lasts a lifetime, I think. Unfortunately, I'm not to a point where I would be strong enough to not grab some, so I don't have much advice. But in the end, it's really just mind over matter (( if you're not withdrawaling, that is.. )). If someone is actively in withdrawal, I will do whatever possible to help them. I don't wish that on my worst enemy.
Do your parents know about your substance use? Obviously, I don't know what your relationship is with them, but if you make them aware of what's going on they can do things to help you in times like this. Don't do it by yourself! Having support is one of the most helpful things in my opinion.
my parents don’t know. They’re not the best people to go to for stuff like this. I have other people in my life that know and are supporting me through the whole process but thank you for the advice ❤️
