Autism and echolalia? I feel like i might have some sort of echolalia, but it’s not like I repeat out loud, its like a constant repeating of a random word (honestly I did this with the word echolalia too) in my head that plays on repeat all day long or for a few hours. It’s like getting a song stuck in your head but its a word or phrase, my most recent one was the word rutabaga because I found it strange. I will change the pronunciation after a little while when it’s stuck in my head or maybe add an accent. It’s very interesting and I would like to know if anyone else does the same thing!
I understand completely what you mean! Usually I have a word or phrase stuck in my head for about an hour non stop, but then sometimes it will come back throughout the day. I’m not sure what it’s called I tried to look it up, but didn’t get a good answer. It seems like a pretty common thing based on what I’ve seen.
I've wondered about this too! I do the same thing, repeating phrases or words I've heard, or funny things I've come up with, parts to songs, and I repeat them aloud or in my head. Sometimes it happens many times in a day, and will linger for weeks. Sometimes it's stuck in there for years or what seems permanently. I've had songs from childhood chorus concerts stuck in my head up until now and I sing them to get the energy out of my body 🙃 😬
