Do you tend to joke about your illnesses?ive seen people do so in hopes of making themselves better…but I feel like it would put myself down, or trigger someone else. What are your thoughts ?

You have to do it around people you know feel the same, other wise I’ve found people get uncomfortable

I tend to joke about it during serious situations to help keep me grounded. If I can laugh about my issues, then they don’t bother me in that moment.

I do it almost automatically because it is my normal and I forget not everyone has that Normal. And it’s a way for me to cope with it as well

i only joke about my raynaud’s, depression and adhd but eating disorders and anxiety hit too hard to joke about. same goes with my OCD, i find it almost crippling.

i tend to notice it doesn't really do much for you to joke about it, it downplays your experience
