so the guy i have been talking to for a little over a month (we are long distance) has finally talked to me again after 8 days of ghosting me. he only replied because i called him out. before the ghost he was super sweet and flirty, now things seem kind of cold. he says he has a lot going on in life right now and he doesn’t feel like talking about it or anything, but that he’ll explain to me at some point and that he has a right to be reclusive until he wants to come out of his shell. i’m going to give him time, but this whole thing gives me anxiety for i have a lot of feelings for this guy and i feel he does too. granted, i am the first male he’s talked to, so a lot of this could have to do with that. i know i should respect his boundaries and his mental health, but i just wish we could communicate on that level and talk about it together. does anyone else do this? does this sound like something someone depressed would do? i cant decipher if it’s a red flag or if i should hold out for him, because i know he’ll be back to explain. i’m just so confused and it’s making me so anxious and sad :/

I would say voice your concerns to him because your feelings matter too and honesty is appreciated. If he says he'll talk about it later, then it's out of your control. All you can do is wait until he's ready.
