Anyone have any thoughts about when to start using a mobility aid? My pain has been almost unbearable but I’m scared to start because I have an active job and life. Anyone have advice?

Have you thought about lowering the activity in your life? That could be causing pain. Also you can use them whenever! My Dr said prevention is best with EDS. A brace or a cane being used instead of dislocating your knee. What's there to be scared of?

You might want to look into the employee laws and rights you have. The ADA is here for a reason. Check ada.gov there might be info on how to ask for accommodations on campus. You are the only one who can control and feel what you feel. You will need to start putting yourself first and thinking about what's best for you because you may end up making yourself worse if you keep going like this

I’m scared because I work with children and I absolutely love my job. I am worried to bring a mobility aid to work because I don’t know if my employer will support me continuing to work there without being able to pick up kids or run around with them. I already know that I can’t go into early childhood education because the job is much too active. I just want to be able to keep my job part time but I can’t manage the physical activity. I also go to college on campus and I can hardly manage to get to my classes. I’m really scared to talk to my doctor about an ambulatory wheelchair because my parents have the mindset that I should just “overcome” the pain and I don’t want to disappoint them.
