Hi there! As a PCOS having person, I’ve experienced ridiculously irregular cycles as I’m sure many of you have. I started birth control about 5/6 years ago when I noticed that my cycle irregularity was increasing - I was subsequently diagnosed with PCOS and was put on BC. I stopped taking it in April of 2021 out of curiosity and had periods pretty randomly after that, with the longest stretch between periods being September 2021 to February 2022. Have any of you found alternative ways to regulate your cycles? I have nothing against the use of birth control - I just want to see what else is out there :)

I have had regular cycles for 6-7 months now (in my 30s and for the first time in my life) after starting taking Zoloft and losing some weight. I can’t really account for any other change besides the overall reduction of stress. I just had an ultrasound that confirmed cysts on both ovaries with a large 1-2 cm cyst engulfing my right. I’m about ready, though not looking forward to a more restrictive diet. It’s hard but I want to feel better. Best wishes❤️

I haven’t, other than getting into better shape, but still they were irregular. From experience, I would stay on BC until you find something that works, and stay on BC for a bit before you go off it again. Going so long between periods before menopause can weak havoc on your bone health. I’m actually seeing a doctor in a few weeks because my bones have become extremely brittle after years of big gaps between periods.

I've found changing my diet and exercise help me maintain mine. Though i should note mine are fairly regular now since i got put on a low hormone dose birth control 3 or 4 years ago. Though i have gone 6 months without one in the past due to traveling international for a month and due to that developed and passed a very large clot that i posed 6 months after i got back into the US. So, before my birth control it was mostly just my diet and exercising i found effected the regularity and severity of mine personally.

So when I stopped BC, I went 444 days without my period and have only have medical periods since then. I take medroxyprogesterone to get them every 3 months now. Sadly haven’t figured out how to regulate it. But I find acupuncture and therapy to help me
