Hey all, I wanted to know if there were any medications or alternative treatments that have really helped your mental health. My psychiatrist has said that the meds I’m currently on are the last she can think of helping me and I wanted to know what you all thought. I’ve been on many SSRI’s, SNRI’s, anti-psychotics and have tried acupuncture and some herbal remedies. I’m getting more intense therapy right now to help with symptoms but wanted to hear from y’all. Previous psychiatrists have suggested TMS or ECT, I’ve heard things about ketamine treatment, nerve blocks, and microdosing, but I wanted to hear from people going through similar things what has worked for you. Thanks!

Does your anxiety come and go? How do you manage it day to day?

Work on your circadian rhythm. Also try lithium orotate. Its milder than the lithium salts prescribed by doctors. Its over the counter, sold by most suppliments companies. I like Piping Rock as my supplier. I've also had positive effects with ashwagandha, but the lithium orotate saved my life.

Hi Im also dealing with GAD, I go to therapy weekly. I used to smoke weed every evening otherwise I couldn't fall asleep. Now I use CBD oil instead because my therapist told that smoking is just making me more anxious. I feel the oil relaxes me but it's only a temporary solution for the evening..

Kratom (which is an herbal medicine) has been life changing for me, especially since CBD has so little effect on me and THC gives me panic attacks. It’s in the coffee family, so it is mildly habit forming, and it’s not recommended for people with heart conditions, but otherwise I’ve found it to be low side effect (just nausea and drowsiness with high doses) and very helpful for my mental health and chronic pain.

inositol powder was recommended to me - i also have a long list of all types of psych meds i react to. theanine has been a game changer and so has valerian. havent tried inositol but it can help with mania/ocd/sleep. cbd/cbn mints or caps also help me.

I've been taking a very low dose of Kratom for several years. I started out taking 8 different meds throughout the day. Kratom and Delta 8 has been helping alot. Delta 8 is weaker than delta 9(thc) but less potent but stronger than cbd. You can get addicted to kratom, it attaches to the opiode receptors and mimics that. Have you given a shot at gabapentin? This is something that helps with my pain levels as well as anxiety. It's been a true godsend with my anxiety and mood.

I had a horrible experience with ECT treatment about ten years ago. I was prescribed 12 treatments in 6 weeks. I completed 11 of those treatments. I’m not saying my experience is the ‘norm’ or what you’ll experience but I regret this very much. It fried my memory. Especially my every day short-term memory. I also didn’t get more than one month’s worth of depression relief.

Talk about some of your specific symptoms with your psych, she may find that there are other diagnoses she can give you that can open up other treatment avenues

my friend has addiction issues with kratom so i get nervous about it but i think they were on a higher dosage. ive noticed it helped before. lots of herbs help me like skullcap, passionflower, kava, etc. in tincture form. i also like theanine a lot with no side effects! im about to try rhodiola for brain health too but haven’t yet. i know i have other ideas but all out for now.

I really like an herbal supplement called Kratom! There are some scary things about it on the internet, but I’ve experienced more results and less side effects on it than any prescription meds or CBD.

ECT was a game-changer for me. It jump started me.

Seems we're in very similar situations, at least with seeking new and/or etter, more-effective treatment for depression and anxiety; I asked the community a similar question. Just know you're not alone.

Hey puarman, a lot of people here suggested cbd as a treatment for anxiety. Personally, I’ve tried it and it wasn’t really helpful, but many people suggested it so maybe it’s worth a try...
