Does anyone else with pots ever feel like they are having a literal heart attack? I went on the exercise bike at the gym for 25 minutes. When I got to the locker room I got severe tight stabbing pains in my heart, the kind that makes you clench your chest. It was about 5 minutes of excruciating pain. Im 22. I have "trace" aortic regurgitation and borderline mitral prolapse. Do I tell my doctor or wait until my appointment in 6 months?.. He said my ekg was normal but my heart was behaving that day. I'm going to get a new apple watch soon that takes ekgs.

Cardio should be done carefully due to this exact reason. You could make your pots symptoms 10 times worse by pushing yourself

I've experienced this exact thing recently. It's sharp pain that makes you go to the floor and grab your chest. I'd love if someone could give me a medical explanation

Also, you mention that you had "trace" aortic regurgitation, has the cardiologist ever mentioned if you should be monitored for possible increased pulmonary pressures? Any kind of abnormal pressure in your pulmonary arteries can and will cause angina with activity. Was the regurgitation diagnosed with an Echo or a Catheterization? Just curious, please do not feel pressured to answer any questions I have asked if you do not feel comfortable. š
@Healforhealth he said we will keep an eye on it but he's not currently doing any tests for it. He said its nothing to worry about at all.. but I'm not so sure. And I had an echo done. Also does increased pulmonary pressure also cause high blood pressure sometimes?
@potsprincess No, pulmonary blood pressure is completely separate from systemic blood pressure. Pulmonary blood pressure refers to the pulmonary arteries and blood vessels in your lungs. When the pressure is elevated in your pulmonary arteries, it causes a strain on the heart. It is good that you guys are keeping an eye on that and that your cardiologist is aware of it. If your pressures ever start to increase, there are several drugs available down to help bring your pressures back down. The pressure in your pulmonary arteries are naturally very very low, so any kind of increase makes your heart work to hard.
Hey there! I get sharp pains in my chest when I go for brisk (brisk for me) walks. I get shooting pains in my chest and in the front of my neck, almost like it travels up. They hurt enough that they stop me in my tracks. My cardiologist said that I shouldn't worry because we have run every test that we can and have found nothing wrong... (even though my heart feels like it's raging 24/7) I personally have found that when I eat smaller meals, I feel the pain less frequently. I take Potassium and Magnesium everyday and that has helped a little bit too. If I were in your position and I was having pain so severe that it felt like a heart attack, I would definitely see my cardiologist sooner rather than later. Better to be safe and check with the doctor than to wait it out and put your health at risk. Before I had a better grip on my condition, and what physical feelings were my "normal", I went to the ER for everything that concerned me and I do not regret it. Hope this helps and I hope you are doing well! ā¤ļø
