What are some tips for parenting when you are in a season where the majority of your days feel like you are struggling to just survive? My kids are 17, 15, 12. My health decline was pretty dramatic and abrupt about 3 yrs ago. They are super helpful and sensitive to my struggles, but I often feel like I don’t have the energy I would like to have (read “use to have”) for the fun stuff or to even stick to a consequence when they do break a rule. Any of you strong and resilient people (parent or not) have any suggestions?! #TheParentGuiltIsReal

I can definitely relate. My grandkids are that age. They do still think of me as the physically abled, fun, playground grandma. Honesty is best. They enjoy you, not your physical stamina or athleticism. Some substitues that we do is -reminiscing and rewat hing some of our favorite Disney kid movies -playing board games -driving practice -taking them to the bouncing parks so they can show off and i can sit. Find a new activity, stationary for you and fun.

Some suggestions for parenting when struggling with energy and health issues include: 1) Communicate openly with your children about your situation, so they understand your limitations and can empathize. 2) Prioritize tasks and activities, focusing on what is most important and letting go of less crucial things. 3) Seek support from friends, family, or community members who can help share the load and provide assistance when needed. 4) Be kind to yourself and remember that it's okay to have limitations and not be able to do everything you used to do. Your children will appreciate your efforts and love, even if you can't always participate in every activity.
