Hello. I have been taking Finasterid for the last twenty years and it has helped me to keep my hair. Since 2 years, I'm now experiencing nocuria, meaning I need to get up a few times a might to urinate. My doctor says that this is not unusual at that age and that it is more much more likely to be caused by an enlarged prostate. And NOT by prostate cancer. The main question I have is whether Finasterid may promoted an enlarged or hardened prostate because I was taking a break from taking Finasteride for a few years and shortly after I started taking the medication again, the nocturia started. I know that Finasteride is actually used to HELP people to REDUCE an enlarged prostate so my question might sound silly but I have heard that in some cases Finasteride can actually have the reverse effect and enlarge the prostate. Does anyone have the same issue?
