Hi friends. This is a sensitive topic for many, and I want to thank anyone who answers in advance…do you guys feel like your fibro was induced or exacerbated by trauma (physical or emotional)? There is some debate over whether fibro is due to genetic predisposition or due to trauma. Personally I feel that I was probably going to have fibro no matter what, but trauma caused it to be worse… thoughts? ❤️
However, I think it is a combination of genetic predisposition and circumstances. If I hadn’t gone through what I had, I probably wouldn’t have fm, but if I weren’t genetically prone, I could have gone through that and not gotten fibro
I'm not sure if mine was induced, but it's definitely exacerbated. I had a big emotional and physical trauma a year ago and have been in a flare up since
I was “normal” until I had a huge physical injury. Very sore and all my fibromyalgia symptoms started. Now any time I get stressed or am sick or have severe anxiety I enhance my symptoms times 100. My rheumatologist agrees that these are all triggers and tells me that he cannot help me until I get my stress and anxiety under control.
Hi ✋ I’m not sure if my fibromyalgia is induced by emotional trauma but I feel it enhances the symptoms. I do see a pattern of my flares/symptoms when I get physically sick. I’m relatively new to this so I’m still investigating in deep the root cause of my diagnosis since no doctor has done a differential diagnosis. I also had a invasive 43 degree scoliosis surgery at 17 that I never monitored. There’s so much to still learn about this condition, but getting a good knowledgeable team and support it’s important in my perspective. For now I’m my case it helps a little managing the symptoms and work on the mental health. I’m grateful that I found this community here. ❤️
Although I’m still in the beginning of my journey in figuring out whats the cause of my chronic pain, I do think my fibro was triggered by emotional trauma. I’ve always had chronic back pain and some issues with my legs, but the widespread constant pain with flare ups and fatigue really started early 2021 after my dad had a horrible reaction to me coming out.
Like I said I still don’t know if this is the exact trigger, but it’s the only thing I can think of that caused this since I didn’t have any physical trauma
I think I actually have HEDS which is genetic most likely but I believe trauma brought on the worst symptoms because most of the pain and debilitating symptoms I have experienced have come after several traumatic events in my early life. So I think I was predisposed to all these things because of the HEDS but they can on so suddenly because of the trauma I experienced as a young person in an abusive home. Sorry it’s not fibro but it’s similar
my fibro is definitely from genetic predisposition, but every time I am dealing with great deals of stress or other pain, it makes it so much worse. I was at a point where stress and anxiety were giving me fevers daily and I couldn’t get out of bed, it definitely makes me more sensitive to stress. my dad on the other hand, had a botched hip replacement, and he has developed fibro since then
I never considered myself as a person with ptsd but I did have childhood trauma. And I was in a car accident when I was 18, it seems like it started them. And I think it got worse this year because of the pandemic
I’m undiagnosed but I am highly suspecting this to be the diagnosis. I am a dv survivor so it would align with the criteria. What does the bloodwork look like for most of you that indicates FM?
