there's another cold front coming in and im honestly terrified. the pain in my joints is fucking awful and it's starting to interfere with work. I cut hair (bad idea) and there aren't many aids I can use while working. then I feel guilty using them when I'm not at work..

Don't feel bad about using aids. Your job would rather you use them and still be able to work. I use pain creams like tiger balm or something with lidocaine in it to help my pain with taking meds. Also just talk to your boss and he honest, maybe they will help in whatever way they can.

I manage a salon and also struggle implementing aids when I know my employees are also working hard. It's about finding a balance between working through the pain, and knowing when you've hit your limit. Cut hair sitting in a rolling stool, see if someone can cover your blowdry while you rest a bit. It is possible to live your life without giving up your passions. Finding work arounds are hard but possible!

Honestly I had to quit doing hair because of my Fibromyalgia. Keeping my arms elevated became impossible. I drove a school bus for a few years but the early morning start time became too much. Now I do In Home Supportive Services caring for elderly in their home but I don’t do any heavy lifting. Someone else comes in and does the bathing. I just cook and baby sit. I also work as a freelance writer and I grow Marijuana here in California where it is legal. I have so many side hustles I can’t list them all but I make money using Cash App and I scan receipts from all of my shopping and my family gives me their receipts. You just have to find a new hustle. It was really hard saying goodbye to hair and the tips but I do good with all my passive income streams. You might have to give it up for something less physical, the shampoo bowl was torture for me since much of my pain is in my back.

Never feel guilty for doing what you need to do for your health! Also yes, cold fronts suck and the pain is real.
