TW // s*icidal thoughts, ab*sive relationship . . . . . I really don't want to live anymore but my mom convinced me to clean my room and get started back on my meds by filling up my pill boxes and while I'm still miserable I'm slightly proud of myself. I haven't cleaned my room in months since I left an abusive relationship and it was so bad but I left bags of old food piling up in my room. well it took me 8 trash bags but I finally cleaned it all up today. please don't judge I know I'm gross.

You're not gross. I am so proud of you and glad your mother pushed you a little. The cleaner environment will help you. Get some fresh air if you can. You deserve all the good things. Even if you don't think you do.

I know how you feel 18 years ago I was I was in a terrible abusive relationship it's caused a few mental health problems. The best thing to do is chat to who ever will listen it lessens the pain and fear. For years I have terrible nightmares about my experiences. They don't happen as much. It May seem hard but get out of bed clean your area take your meds and stay on top of things cause if u don't that bastard wins your better then him stand tall and proud of leaving that relationship

@pagankim thank you so much! I often think about the relationship and then get triggered so I understand. I got my room clean and took my meds and went inpatient.

Your not gross and I’m so proud of you . I recently did the same thing and moved a shelf in to organize some things in my room so I have more room and so it’s not on boxes piling up giving me anxiety or more. So proud of you

This is not gross. This is a great step forward and you should be proud of yourself. I had a similar situation in which I had a really hard time adjusting to college and was even suicidal at one point. My room was so disgusting but it felt like a small victory when I cleaned it.

@Soda4017 thank you! It's such a good feeling to have things clean, huh? I understand I went inpatient because I was suicidal.

@teiovex I didn’t even sleep in my room for months after I kicked my abuser out, we all cope differently and need time/space. be kind and patient with yourself, you’re doing good

        • poodlelover28

          463d

@teiovex yeah I've been in a different room because I have to move my bed and can't do it alone because it's too heavy and while I don't like it because it's much smaller and makes me feel claustrophobic I'm glad I'm not reminded of "our" room.

I’m so proud of you.. I know how hard it can be.. I’ve been in 3 abusive relationships in the past 5 years.. 2 were over a year long and the other one was only a couple months.. but it’s hard being in them especially when they lived with you… my last relationship was the worst and the room was always trashed mainly bc he would get mad and destroy it to make me clean it as a punishment… that’s the first time I’ve actually wrote that down.. thank you.. I gotta go write in my journal.. but remember you got this.. it will get better.. and also remember your mom is trying to help and she loves you..

        463d

@Alexxxxxx thank you and I'm so sorry you endured that too. My ex fiancée would trash my room too and wouldn't let me have friends. She purposefully got me to isolate myself so she could have me all to herself and use me up until I was nothing.

I’ve been in the same situations before, too. A lot of people with clinical depression don’t admit to the “gross” symptoms because so many people who don’t experience that don’t want to hear about the “shameful” sides of depression. You’re definitely not alone! And it’s nothing to be ashamed of, either. Some people just don’t understand and don’t want to try to.

No judgement here,. You should feel extremely proud of yourself ! You've done good,. I've some knowledge on the subject as my son suffered many years and several attempts,. Some days we'd just sit quietly together and I'd hold his hand,. He talked a lot about his mental health to me and drs,. Trust in someone, talk to someone, trust me you've got this! I'm proud of you , always here if you want to chat x

You’re not gross! When your mind is cluttered with all the bad things that have happened to you your physical space will also be cluttered. How can you be organized when you’re just trying to get through each day. Stay as strong as you can each day. Some days your strength may be as thin as one thread that’s frayed but the next day maybe you’ll add another thread. Every day you get closer to getting stronger. Until you start seeing yourself in the life you want. You are amazing and loved. You share the same molecules as the universe. You’re beautiful on the molecular level and every level in between. Don’t forget that. 🫶🏽

What matters, is you got some motivation from a loved one and you it helped enough, to clean up a little. Recognize your small victories. They add up.
