it worked! I'm sorry for the insanely late response, but I ended up having to miss out on a marching band season, but I'm allowed back in this year!! I've used your strategy and all of my grades have been passing this year

Set up a space with as few distractions as possible, and set a 10 min timer. Just do 10 min worth of homework. If at the end of 10min you are really focused on the work it's okay to keep going. If not take a break and do something you like but set another timer. I usually do 10min on 10 min off. But it depends on your level of ADHD and how much task anxiety comes with it. For me the timer for the fun thing I do is more important because I will hyper focus on it. My ADHD therapist said the hardest thing to do when we see something as being an overwhelming amount of work is starting on it. So my best advice is to just start. Don't try to tell your self your going to get it all done at one time just pieces of it. I'm going to get 10min done. It's all in the way our brain is looking at the anxiety around what we want to accomplish. I'm sorry this is kind of long but I hope it helps.
