How do I stop automatically getting defensive and making excuses when I do something wrong? It's become like a reflex to use this as a defense mechanism, and I even find myself doing it unprompted, to the point where I just had to stop myself from typing out essentially "It's not my fault I do this because XYZ happened in the past"...

It really help if you find a good person to hold you accountable, I know that’s not always easy especially when social anxiety is involved. What I always try to do it see it from the other persons perspective when they address the issue (of course this is easier said than done, and it takes practice) Just try to remember it usually comes from a place of understanding rather than blaming. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you’re doing well ❤️
