Bees have hairs on their eyes that detect wind speed and direction! They also have five eyes (the two you can see and then three small ones in between).

There is no such thing as a pink wavelength. Pink is a mix of red and violet but these colors don't meet on the color spectrum. So our minds create the illusion that is pink to fill the gap.

        453d

@SalineTurnip is light red also considered pink then, and only certain pinks are illusory? Or is light red perceived differently and not considered pink?

        • SalineTurnip

          453d

@Cloudlight red light is perceived differently than pink. Red light is on the color spectrum so it can be seen like other colors (blue, green, etc). Pink is not on the color spectrum.

cats don't have sweet taste buds, so they can't taste sweetness! šŸ±normally i'd be jealous of cats since they get to sit around and sleep all day, but then this fact makes me think it's not worth it lol (i could never give up the taste of cookies)

The color purple isn't real! It's real in the sense that people experience it, but it's the result of opposite cones (red and blue) triggering. Usually, the value right in the middle of the two would be green, but green has it's own cone, and if that isn't being activated then the brain knows it isn't looking at green and makes up its own idea of a color. Purple is the only color that is absolutely unique to your own perception, no one else's purple is like it!

        454d

@Cloudlight Pink is also not a real color.

@SalineTurnip Do you mean in the sense that it's just light red? If so then the same is true for brown! Just dark orange!

The creator of PONG was alos the creator of Chuck E Cheeses (originally called "Ricky Rats Pizza Time Theater). And the creator of the wackamole made ShowBiz Pizza. Showbiz pizza had an animatronic show (THAT WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN CEC) called "The Rock-a-Fire Explosion" but sadly they went bankrupt only 4 years after starting because the owner of showbiz (not aaron fechter anymore cuz he gave it to someone else) decided to expand far faster than they could afford.

So it is commonly known that cats have better eyesight then humans in the dark, but I donā€™t believe its as commonly known as to why that is. So it is like that because of the rods in their eyes. They have more rods in their eyes then humans, so it makes them able to see better in dimmer conditions. Their tapetum also plays a role in it.

@Dont.Wake.The.Baby Does the honey possum not count? I know they're marsupials but I'm not sure if they're actually truly possums or just the name šŸ¤” Honey possums are tiny, about the size of a field mouse, and use their tiny size to eat from flowers. They're even pollinators because of their soft fur! They're also adorable šŸ„ŗšŸ’š

@Anura good question!! Honey possums are adorable, however, they are not technically possums!!!

This one is a fact that I definitely know, as Iā€™m obsessed with this topic. Did you know that the 90s game, Bop It was originally a remote control? Yep. According to the Inventor of Bop It, Dan Klitsner, who I know personally, had designed remote controls for kids in the early 90s, including one shaped like a slice of pizza. He also has an idea for a remote shaped like a hammer he called the Channel Bopper. He has a foam prototype of it still. You were supposed to have to ā€œBopā€ each side of the hammer on your hand to change the channel. There was a yellow twistable thing. That was to adjust the volume. And a pullable grip handle to turn it off and on. Then, he got to thinking, ā€œIā€™ve made so many remotes that kids control. But what if this remote controlled the kid??ā€ That eventually became the original Bop It that was released in 1997, 25 years ago already! Dan had signed the contract with licensing to Hasbro on March 11, 1996. Since then, there have been multiple versions of Bop It (30 to be exact, and I own them all), and I am what you would call a Bop It super fan. The Inventor himself said on a TikTok livestream that I, known as Bopitmaster8 on TikTok and other social media platforms, pretty much know more about Bop It than HE does, which really means a lot. I have contact with him often on Instagram, where I share different ideas of what I think I myself, and also the Bop It communities, which include groups in Discord, would like to see happen. I am also one of the more well known Bop It enthusiasts, as I am close to reaching 1.4K subscribers on YouTube. There are a couple people way above me, but most of the community members havenā€™t even hit 500. Anyhoo, if you want to know more about Bop It, I am always open on social media, and my YouTube channel is my name, Cain Kaiser.

Rice is made of two main compounds, amylose and amylopectin. There are more than 120,000 species of rice, and they all have a different ratio of amylose to amylopectin. Amylose controls how firm rice grains will be after cooking, and amylopectin controls how sticky they will be after cooking. This means that different species of rice will be better for different things. Like how Bomba rice is the best rice for paella, and short grain Japanese rice is the best for sushi.
