Mine was kind of an accident. I see a neurologist because I have seizures and I asked him if I could have MS. He did all the testing and imaging and said I don't, but that I have fibromyalgia.

Because of two male doctors ignoring what I told them and offering no help, I switched to a female Primary Care Physician. Since I was a working RN (24 years ago), I did a head-to-toe assessment on myself and wrote everything down. I took it to my new doctor, who reviewed it. She immediately said that it was classic FM. A year later, she saved my life when she diagnosed my Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma. Since then, except for my oncologist and later a rheumatologist, my doctors have all been women.

About 20 years ago. I read a article in a magazine, took it to my doctor and said ā€œthis is what I haveā€ā€¦the rest is history because sure enough it was. Sheā€™s an amazing rheumatologist šŸ’œšŸ«¶šŸ¼

I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2005 when I was 45. My doctor kept telling me it was depression. I told him that I'm not tired and achy because I'm depressed - I'm depressed because I'm always tired and achy! That's when he decided to do more testing.

@LSneiderwine right?!?! I was so angry when I was diagnosed with lymphedema last year. They said maybe if you lose weight itā€™ll go away. You probably developed lymphedema because you gained weight. I was like, no!!! I just told you! I was working 2 jobs AND I was going to the gym 4x a week. Suddenly I noticed swelling in my legs, tired, pain everywhere. My feet looked like balloons. I stopped going to the gym because I couldnā€™t fit into my shoes. I quit my part time job. The swelling came first.

@Andi71 why can't they follow chronology? I think it's because they can't see time.
