anyone know why we mostly have alters younger than the body? we're bodily 18 but our host is 15, and our cohost is 12-14 (ageslider). its so frustrating to very rarely be the body's age. our friends and family have taken notice and think we're super immature when actually, we're just constantly regressed and have no clue how to be an adult

most of ours are younger too. though most of us seem to have either been OCs at first or they pushed me to make those characters and it was really then the whole time. idk yet. but the majority of us are younger than me, and I'm the host/core so I age with the body.
Like others have said it's based on trauma age. Or some alters can be older then the body. I personally have a few older then the body. In the form of "caretaker types" because no one took care of the baby so we made grownups to do that. If that makes sense

Ok so the majority of your alters are going to be bassed on when the trauma in your life occurs. I have a LOTT of alters between the ages of 5 and 8 because that was the peak of my trauma. And I'm sure you know how did works. Butt.. the alters main purpose is to help the brain/body deal with certain traumatic events that the brain can't handle on Its own. So if the traumatic events happened when you where younger.. chances are the majority of alters are going to be around that age. I hope this helps and you can also PM Me if you feel comfortable.. if you want more help. Or if you have more questions!! ❤️❤️

it is most likely because of the trauma. i'm not a doctor, but speaking to a therapist if possible to "heal the inner child" would likely be beneficial
A lot of mine come from childhood trauma, so they're "me" at the most traumatic stages of life.
@Haiylee seconding this!
