Tw potential ED For the past for weeks I have had no real desire to eat more than one meal a day. I haven’t consciously been having any self image issues but I do still experience side effects from the bulimia I had in middle school. (Randomly I get dopamine if I don’t eat a meal when I’m hungry and I get nauseous if I bend over too much.) I don’t feel full but I don’t feel compelled to eat other than I know I’m supposed to. Is it dopamine seeking after all the dark winter days? Is it an OCD thing that I’m trying to create another controllable pattern? Is it just an indecisiveness where incant decide what to eat so I don’t try? Am I the only one who randomly feels this way lol.

Try "munching" on fruits and vegetables for the time being. Once your body gets a little taste of the natural sugars and salts AND nutrients, your body will start asking for it. Water with lemon may help your stomach to get hungry. Glass of water with lemon in the morning. Just don't drink too much of it or it will upset your stomach acid. Your body may not want to eat, but your mind does. You ought to trick your body to do same.

I only eat 1 meal a day. I never ate breakfast as I don't feel hungry first thing in the morning I use to eat at lunchtime til I started ADHD meds so now I only eat in the evenings. Also if I can't decide what I fancy it put me off eating that day altogether. Are you under stress at the minute? that can affect your appetite. When I've been stressed in the past I didn't eat for about 2 months straight was living on Lucozade original drink as the doctor said it would keep my glucose levels up and give me a bit of energy. I wouldn't worry too much but keep an eye on it. I think the first thing I ate after the 2 months was a big mac as I fancied it so my mum went and got it for me before I lost my hunger again. I hope this feeling dont last long for you.

@Alistrange I don’t feel particularly stressed or am going through something stressful but that’s not to say it’s not underlying anxiety.

For me ADHD is a big cause of not eating. I just don't feel hungry, forget to eat, then end up b with a migraine from low blood sugar. I have people around me that remind me/cook foods. I've never really eaten for than 1-2 meals a day. It sucks because I also have PCOS and doctors "worry" about my weight. Like dude! Every woman on my mother's side looks like me! People assume I eat more than I do, or eat worse than I do because of abdominal fat. *eyeroll* If depression is contributing to lack of appetite, meal prepping can help. Even just portioning out several noodles and sauce into the freezer can help when you don't feel like cooking. Lastly, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Biologically humans don't need as much food as we eat. (Especially in America!) As long as you are getting sufficient calories to not die and take vitamin supplements if needed, you're all good. I got told that by a doctor once in college. I'd been really sick with a stomach bug and had been forcing myself to eat because I thought I had to. He said it was fine to not eat for a day or two if I was still nauseated as long as I was getting plenty of fluids. Fruit juice for the sugars, or broth. That made me feel a lot better about myself.

@Atheris I am already on supplements because my body has to be oversdosed with them to somehow manage to get enough to run because I can’t really pull it from food so that is good advice. I am an avid water drinker and I don’t like any other beverage nearly as much so in theory I should be pretty healthy (LOL) but I just wasn’t sure if it was normal.

@Soskae that's interesting. Not being able to utilize nutrients effectively could be a sign of an underlying genetic disorder. I'm not super familiar with that area of biology but it might be something to look into. I know we covered pancreatic insufficiency in school. That's like an extreme example of the body not being able to get nutrients out of food. But other things that come to mind (I'm totally guessing here) are gall bladder issues, bile helps digest fats, or maybe a gut flora imbalance, not enough of the bacteria that help make things the body needs.
Metformin is known to cause appetite loss! And I believe adhd can exaggerate symptoms like forgetting to eat, I hope this helps it may very well also be an ocd thing but I'm not as educated on that, I do know my sister didn't eat for a while after first being put on metformin especially high doses it can be a dangerous side effect
@Moh I definitely have experienced reduced appetite from it but I have been on it for a few years. Maybe it’s just getting built up in my system 🤷♀️
