This evening, I noticed there was a moth in my kitchen. I have a MAJOR phobia of any kind of bug, and I cannot calm down. This was hours ago. I want to cry, my skin is crawling, and I don’t know what to do. I killed it from a distance, but I’m seriously upset. How can I calm down? I keep my home immaculate at all times for this reason exactly, I do not want bugs anywhere in my home. I know it’s unavoidable, but the goal is to minimize it so I’m constantly cleaning. What can I do to relax?

Now you can try to relax by breathing or doing something else that distracts you, like sports, hanging out with friends, or anything else you like. In the long term, you can try behavioral therapy like CBT, it can help you deal better with a situation like that.
